Iatrogenic Tooth Fracture

Patient: 50 year old female with unremarkable medical history. This was a patient I had seen in my old practice before I moved to my new one in Orange, CT.

Description: Fracture of lower left second premolar (#20) with no symptoms.  The tooth had Class II mobility but there was no pain on percussion nor while evaluating the mobility.

The circled red area shows the fracture quite clearly.

The fracture most likely occurred iatrogenically during the traumatic extraction of #19 – the tooth directly behind it. ┬áThe patient ultimately had #20 extracted and a dental implant placed.
